Tech & Safety Features in the all-new 2022 GMC Yukon

The all-new 2022 GMC Yukon is a game-changer when it comes to full-size SUVs. Not only does the Yukon offer fresh new styling, a strong lineup of capable and efficient engines, and a host of comfort and convenience improvements over the previous year’s model, but it also adds plenty of new and updated tech and safety features.
Community Buick GMC is proud to offer the 2022 Yukon as part of its extensive lineup. Let’s dive deeper into the Yukon’s latest tech and safety features, as well as how each feature improves the overall driving experience.
A New Digital Gauge Cluster

One of the biggest highlights for 2022 is the Yukon’s new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, which comes standard on every Yukon trim. This replaces the previous 8-inch cluster along with the traditional speedometer and tachometer. The result is a larger display that conveys more information than ever before.
Drivers can also toggle through a variety of display modes to customize their visual experience to suit their needs. For instance, Off-Road Mode displays the vehicle’s current drive mode, along with a handy inclinometer for demanding off-road situations.
Infotainment with Google Built-In
The 2022 GMC Yukon also comes with a new 10.2-inch infotainment system
featuring Google Built-In Technology. With this feature, your favorite Google apps are built right into the infotainment system. That means you can access apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and the Google Play Store directly from the infotainment screen without having to pair your phone.
You’ll still have access to must-have tech features like wireless Android Auto compatibility, downloadable in-vehicle apps, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot. Apple iPhone users can also wirelessly connect their smartphones to access a host of compatible apps, including Siri and Apple Maps. You’ll also get access to a host of Amazon Alexa features, including hands-free music, directions, and weather, courtesy of the available Alexa Built-In technology.
Simply put, the 2022 Yukon’s infotainment system represents a quantum leap from previous years.
Buckle to Drive
Another notable safety feature is “Buckle to Drive,” which also comes standard on the all-new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. How these safety features work is quite simple – it encourages drivers to fasten their safety belts before shifting the vehicle out of Park. Upon starting the vehicle, a message appears on the digital gauge cluster reminding drivers to buckle up. Drivers won’t be able to shift out of Park until they’ve fastened their seat belts. This feature times out after 20 seconds, after which the feature deactivates and the message is no longer displayed.
The Buckle to Drive feature can be turned on and off through the Settings menu on the infotainment screen or the Teen Driver menu. Combined with Teen Driver Technology and its comprehensive suite of safety and awareness features, parents can rest easier about their teens’ driving habits.
Other Safety Features
No 2022 GMC Yukon is complete without a comprehensive list of safety and driver-assistive features. These include Forward Collision Alert, which warns drivers of impending front-end collisions and allows them to take evasive action. Automatic Emergency Braking technology helps mitigate the severity of frontal collisions by automatically applying the brakes as needed. At speeds below 50 MPH, Front Pedestrian Braking detects pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle and even applies hard emergency braking when needed.
Other advanced safety features include Rear Park Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Following Distance Indicator, which alerts drivers if they’re following the vehicle ahead too closely. IntelliBeam automatic headlamp control automatically dips the high beams depending on surrounding traffic conditions. These features help improve the driving experience for all 2022 Yukon owners.
OnStar Safety and Security
The 2022 Yukon also comes available with OnStar and its suite of safety and security features. These include Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, and Roadside Assistance. With these features, drivers can feel more confident and secure as they set out on the open road.
