The GMC Terrain comes with standard equipment, which includes front- or all-wheel drive, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. New for 2024 are two new exterior paint colors – Downpour Metallic and Riptide Metallic. Estimated *EPA fuel economy is a combined 25 MPG to 26 MPG depending on AWD or FWD.
While cruising around Waterloo, IA, the Terrain has plenty of infotainment features. Depending on the trim, the SUV features easy-to-operate systems, such as an in-dash navigation system, and a head-up display, which uses a pop-up panel vs the windshield for displays. There’s also adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, and lane-departure assist.
The GMC Terrain offers four trims to suit features, amenities, and price preferences. The trims range in price from the base SLE, mid-range SLT and AT4, to the high-end Denali. Additional exterior paint colors include Sterling Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and White Frost Tricoat.
In 2024, the SUV received J.D. Power’s Performance Award and the Initial Quality Study award. The Terrain was recognized for its safety and technology by U.S. News & World Report, and named Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal. The SUV was named as a Top Safety Pick by IIHS and received a 5-star safety rating from NHTSA.
